First Aid & CPR Recertification

Recertification courses are designed to refresh your memory and life-saving skills. The All-In-Class format is a great way to re-learn the skills you were once taught by a Canadian Red Cross instructor. This format allows students to complete their full training course in a classroom setting.

Attend your training anywhere from four to eight hours depending on the course level you have registered for. After completing and passing an exam, students will receive a temporary certificate which is valid for 30 days. Within 5-10 business days, students will receive a PDF copy of their certificate via email.

With the All-In-Class format, students are able to complete their training in one go with an experienced Canadian Red Cross instructor. Refresh your memory with theory and hands-on practice. This format is available for public training.

CPR/AED Level C Recertification

Proof of valid certification from an accepted WSIB-approved/OHS-approved provider

100% attendance of the course

75% score on the multiple choice

Professional Responder Recertification

While playing such an important role in our communities, First Responders are required to be First Aid and CPR/AED certified. Recertification courses are available for First Responders such as paramedics, firefighters, rescue safety teams and more.

These training courses have been developed to keep life-saving skills up-to-date while also building confidence in each participant’s abilities. It is important to understand the all of the techniques taught in a First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder training course.

We understand that each of these courses cover a wide range of material which is why they are taught by highly experienced Canadian Red Cross instructors. We strive to provide the best training possible, especially for our First Responders. With this in mind, each Professional Responder training course is equipped with top-notch training equipment, perfect for learning and practicing life-saving skills.

First Responder (FR) Recertification

20 hours in-class

Requirements

Proof of valid First Responder Canadian Red Cross Certification

100% attendance of the course

75% score on the multiple choice
knowledge test

Successful demonstration of required skills

Successful complete of minimum one practical scenario

Certification

Certificate will be issued, valid for 3 years

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Recertification

Duration

40 hours teaching time

Requirements

Proof of valid Emergency Medical Responder Canadian Red Cross Certification

100% attendance of the course

75% score on the multiple choice
knowledge test

Successful demonstration of required skills

Successfully complete minimum of two practical scenarios (one medical, one trauma)

Certification

Certificate will be issued, valid for 3 years

Recertification
Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a Recertification course at Coast2Coast, you must have a valid (not expired) certificate from the Canadian Red Cross. If you are registering for a CPR Recertification course, your current certificate is not required to be from the Canadian Red Cross, but must be from a WSIB-approved or OHS-approved provider. Conditions vary based on the province you are completing your training in as well as the course level you wish to register for.

Currently, we provide First Aid & CPR training in Ontario and Alberta.

First Aid & CPR Recertification

In Ontario and Alberta, you may recertify CPR/AED Level C more than once. If you currently hold a CPR/AED Level C certificate from a Recertification course, you are welcome to take another Recertification course as many times as you want, provided that your current certificate is not expired.

Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C cannot be recertified in Ontario. You must complete the full training course instead. However, Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C can be recertified in Alberta.

Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C can be recertified in both Ontario and Alberta, but in Ontario, it can only be recertified once. This means you will need to alternate between a full course and a Recertification course.

Professional Responder Recertification

You may complete a Recertification course each time you need to renew your First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder certification as long as your current certificate is not expired.

FYI - Each course ends with an online test, so make sure you have a phone and remember the information you used to sign up for the course to avoid being locked out.

Ezz was great! He was a top notch instructor despite having hip pain. Made the course enjoyable, engaging, and left us very good nuggets of information that I will always remember. My only feedback for this program is not with the instructor, but with the company. I wanted to cancel a class that I had booked with three weeks notice and was told I would be charged $35. I think that policy makes sense with a last minute cancelation but not within a three week notice.

What Courses can
be Recertified?

We offer Recertification courses for many different training levels including CPR/AED Level C, Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, First Responder and Emergency Medical Responder.

If you would like to recertify any other certificates (CPR/AED Level A or Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, for example), then you may need to register for a full training course. Some courses are not available for Recertification depending on the province.

CPR/AED Level A: No Recertification course is available for CPR/AED Level A. You must complete the full training.
CPR/AED Level C: Recertification is available for CPR/AED Level C and can be recertified multiple times in a row.
Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C: Recertification is only available to our Alberta residents and can be recertified multiple times in a row. Ontario does not allow Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Recertification.
Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C: Recertification is available for Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. In Alberta, the course may be recertified multiple times in a row, but in Ontario, you must alternate between a full course and a Recertification course.

If your current First Aid and CPR/AED certificate from the Canadian Red Cross is about to expire, then you should enroll in a WSIB approved or OHS-approved Recertification course. With recertification training, students will primarily focus on practicing hands-on skills such as CPR, bandaging and more.

Refresh your memory by practicing the skills you were once taught and learn new life-saving techniques from a certified Canadian Red Cross instructor! Recertification training will occur over a shorter duration of time compared to the full training course you originally completed.
